- Store the barrel wrapped before use
- Keep the barrel filled with liquid (minimum 15% of volume) or washed with baking soda and wrapped in plastic wrap between batches
- Ensure a room temperature of 10°C-15°C (50°F-59°F) during the curing process to prevent excessive evaporation and drying of the wood
